India-Nepal Multimodal Logistics & Connectivity Summit 2024 in Birgunj

The ‘India-Nepal Center’ and ‘Gati Shakti Development Forum,’  organized the “India-Nepal Multimodal Logistics & Connectivity Summit 2024.” The event took place on May 23 in Birgunj, Nepal, and included participation from government and industry representatives from both countries. The summit aimed to bring together important figures from India and Nepal to discuss and promote projects that improve connectivity and trade for India and Nepal Logistics service seamlessly. It provided a platform for detailed discussions on improving logistics, transportation, and infrastructure between the two nations. At the summit, participants discussed several issues. They talked about the need to lower logistics and transportation costs to help reduce costs for consumers. They also emphasized the importance of giving priority to Nepali companies for managing the Integrated Check Post (ICP) and Inland Container Depot (ICD). The open border and connectivity projects have greatly supported & initiatives have significantly bolstered India-Nepal trade. Recently, improvements in border infrastructure, a letter of exchanges, a bilateral rail service agreement, a government-to-government agreement for fertilizer supply from India to Nepal, and progress in power sector cooperation are expected to further boost trade between the two countries,” said Devi Sahai Meena, Consul General of the Indian Consulate in Birgunj, Nepal. The summit emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties and integrating the economies of India and Nepal by allowing goods, services, and people to move freely across the border. It underscored the dedication of both nations to leverage their strong ties. It highlighted the commitment of both countries to use their strong relationship to create a more integrated economic partnership and to support efforts for deeper regional cooperation.
